John M. Parr Memorial Plaza Dedicated on Halloween 2008

On October 31, 2008, at noon, a dedication was held for the John M. Parr Memorial Plaza at the Law Office of Halpern & Oliver, PLLC, where a plaque has been installed honoring him   John gave an inspirational speech as to the importance of law in his life and his long-time relationship with our law firm.  Google research shows that this is the first memorial plaza dedicated for a graduate of the University of North Dakota Law School.Two close Halpern relatives are also esteemed alumni of the University of North Dakota Law School, Sam Halpern (who graduated almost one hundred years ago, having gone straight to law school after graduating from Hebron High School in North Dakota), and Mike Halpern, who still practices law as the only lawyer in Glen Ulin, North Dakota, 12 miles from Hebron.

John was toasted as an author, a Certified Senior Advisor, a Certified Fitness Specialist for Older Adults, a three-time Boss of the Year in Thurston County, and an estate planning lawyer who prepares “pet trusts” among his specialties.  John was provided with numerous gifts donated in his honor, his favorites being a Cracker Jack toy and a cup with the name Frank on it from the Alamo.    A celebration lunch consisting of Meconis sandwiches and Heinekens Beer was provided.  John can be reached at JMP@50pluslaw.com.  For pictures of the event, please click here.
